What PPWR and EUDR are and what they mean for drum buyers

A wooden cable drum is transport packaging made of wood. It therefore falls under two EU regulations: PPWR for packaging and EUDR for the origin of the raw material. Fallwood meets both and hands customers ready documentation.

Packaging and packaging waste

The PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) replaces the packaging directive and sets uniform EU-wide requirements for packaging, including wooden cable drums: minimisation, recyclability, labelling and documentation duties for the manufacturer and the party placing it on the market.

EUDR · Regulation (EU) 2023/1115

Deforestation-free products

The EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) requires wood and wood products placed on the EU market to come from land not deforested after 31 December 2020 and to be legally harvested. Fallwood performs due diligence on raw-material origin and passes statement numbers to customers.

A professional documentation portal for Fallwood customers

After receiving a login and password, the customer has access to the full PPWR and EUDR documentation for their orders: technical drawings of the drums, declarations of conformity, certificates, due diligence statements and delivery proofs.

Everything is automatic. Documents are generated for the specific customer and ready before the order ships, so there is no waiting for anything to be sent later. The portal and documentation are available in four languages – Polish, English, German and Italian – in the language of the ordering party.

Are wooden cable drums subject to PPWR?

Yes. A cable drum is transport packaging within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2025/40, so it requires technical documentation, a declaration of conformity and labelling. Fallwood provides the full set in the ppwr.fallwood.com.pl portal.

Do Fallwood drums meet EUDR?

Yes. The raw material comes from FSC® and PEFC certified sources and Fallwood submits due diligence statements (DDS). The customer receives the statement reference number to use in their own supply chain.

How do I get portal access?

Every Fallwood customer gets access. Ask for a login and password with your first order or write to our office. The account is assigned to the company and documents are visible only for its orders.

In which languages is the documentation available?

Polish, English, German and Italian. The document language follows the language of the ordering party.
